Jan 3, 2016 · I just bought a new M11A1 and when getting it home, I noticed that it had P229 grips instead of P228 grips (which is what it's supposed to have). Yes, the gun is "more" P229 than P228, but the whole point is that this is supposed to be "true-er" to the military M11. And that means P228 grips. It's what every picture of the M11 online is wearing.

I have seen several M11-A1 magazines that shipped with very a viscous preservative on the inside of the magazine body. Try cleaning the inside of the magazine and confirm the follower moves freely along the entire length of the body.However, it is an excellent solvent for removing any sticky residue, and makes quick work of getting under and softening the glue of the M11-A1 sticker. The P228 has been discontinued. The A1 has a Nitron coated stainless steel slide, the internals are phosphate coated (parkerized), comes with Sig night sights, and Sig's excellent Short Reset Trigger (SRT). It is a fantastic shooter. Dimensionally, the M11-A1 is about the same size as a Glock 19. I don't carry it as often as I probably should ... The SIG M11-A1-D is one fine firearm and fits in nicely with my other SIGs, P239 and P226. I added a Crimson Trace Laser grip and had trigger work completed.
